Crimson Desert romance is available through Charting the Unknown. Approach an eligible NPC, choose Interact > Flirt, and develop the additional relationship Trust through the available interactions. At 100 on that additional level, you can propose, provided any special conditions for that NPC have been met.
This is separate from ordinary NPC Trust. A familiar resident's existing Trust value is not automatically a completed romance, and the same relationship is not shared across Kliff, Oongka and Damiane. Choose the playable hero you want to pursue the NPC with before investing in the romantic layer.
Check eligibility through the interaction menu

Inspect an eligible NPCs available relationship interaction.
Begin by speaking to the NPC and inspecting the relationship options they actually offer. Look for the romance interaction and the relationship indicators in that interface. A resident who accepts an ordinary gift is not necessarily a romance target, so do not assume every shopkeeper becomes eligible if you give enough items.
If Flirt is unavailable, consider the NPC's current relationship state and any character-specific prerequisites. Witches have an additional Sanctum-quest condition, while other eligible residents may have their own requirements. The interaction and quest state should guide the next step rather than a list that assumes every NPC works identically.
Romance is not tied to one universal Journey's End requirement in the way the new post-game protagonist stories are. That does not remove the need to reach the NPC or clear an individual condition. A resident unavailable because of your current progression cannot be approached simply by opening the expansion's general quest category.
Make sure the expansion is active before diagnosing missing romance options. Enhanced's free base-game update and Charting the Unknown are different content entitlements. Older statements that the base game has no romance do not describe the expansion system, while the Enhanced name alone does not confirm that you have it.
Choose which protagonist owns the relationship
Kliff, Oongka and Damiane can each develop relationships with eligible inhabitants, but their progress is character-specific. Flirting as one playable character decreases that NPC's Trust toward the other playable characters. Switching heroes is therefore a relationship decision as well as a change in combat style.
Pick the hero you intend to use before following a daily interaction routine. If you have been developing the NPC with Kliff, do not switch to Damiane and interpret her different relationship state as progress being erased. Inspect the relationship from the perspective of the character who actually performed the earlier interactions.
This matters most when you are working on one target over several visits. Keep that NPC and protagonist pairing consistent while you learn the routine. You can still play the other heroes elsewhere, but check who is active before beginning another Flirt interaction with the person you are pursuing.
The system does not require you to treat every resident as a shared party relationship. Read the current hero's options and meter each time you return. That is the useful checkpoint when comparing today's available interactions with what you remember from a previous visit.
Build ordinary Trust with useful conversations and gifts
Chat and Gift provide the foundation for relationships. Chat lets you share Knowledge with a resident, while gifts let you offer items that match their preferences. The updated interaction interface shows a cooldown after an action raises Trust, helping you identify when the same interaction can become productive again.
Use the resident's interests to choose your approach. Books added with the interaction system can reveal preferences, so examine that information before spending valuable objects. An expensive gift is not automatically the most efficient choice for every character.
Treat a conversation as an interaction with a particular person rather than a universal dialogue puzzle. Knowledge about places, materials or other subjects can produce different responses. Read the NPC's reaction and the relationship display instead of assuming a single topic is always optimal across Pywel.
When a normal interaction no longer raises the relevant value, check the displayed cooldown and relationship state. Repeating the same action immediately may simply repeat an interaction whose productive use is already exhausted for the day. That is different from an NPC becoming permanently ineligible.
Raise the additional romantic Trust
Once available, choose Interact > Flirt to work on the additional relationship level. After Flirt, use the available Gift or Chat interactions to continue building that level. Keep the extra relationship meter distinct from the ordinary Trust value you developed earlier.
Each relevant interaction type can increase the additional level once per day. This makes a varied daily visit more useful than repeatedly selecting the same action. Use the available productive interactions, inspect their results and return when the interface indicates that another increase is possible.
Do not budget around a universal number of gifts or a guaranteed number of days to marriage. The NPC, its preferences, your current relationship state and any extra condition matter. Your immediate target is to increase the correct meter through the permitted interactions, not to reproduce an unsupported speedrun schedule.
A practical visit is straightforward: confirm the active hero, inspect the relationship, use Flirt when available, then use the productive gift and conversation options. Read the resulting state before leaving. When the additional Trust reaches 100, check the proposal option and any remaining character-specific objective.
Complete special conditions before expecting a proposal
Witches require completion of their respective Sanctum quests. This condition belongs to the specific witch you want to pursue. Having met another witch or used an Abyss Gear service does not establish that the chosen witch's own faction questline has been completed.
Review that witch's Journal entries and finish the outstanding Sanctum objectives before returning to the relationship. This guide covers the shared romance process; the route to each witch and her Sanctum sequence is a separate task. Keep the two types of progress visible rather than expecting gifts to substitute for a quest.
Other NPCs can also require special conditions. If a proposal action leads to further dialogue or a character-specific objective, follow that current requirement. Reaching the meter threshold and completing the relationship event are connected steps, but the final interaction can still depend on the person you chose.
If the proposal option is absent at an apparent Trust value of 100, first verify which meter reached 100 and which protagonist you are controlling. Then review the NPC's specific conditions. Those checks address the relationship system directly without relying on another character's wedding sequence as a universal script.
Set up life after marriage
After marriage, your spouse gains an icon on the world map and minimap. Use that to locate them instead of assuming they remain at exactly the same point where every earlier conversation occurred. The relationship continues to have practical interactions after the ceremony.
You can travel together with your spouse, and they may occasionally give you gifts. Traveling with an NPC does not turn the game into online co-op. It is an accompaniment feature within the single-player relationship system.
Barber shops can change a spouse's appearance. Treat this as an available customization option rather than a requirement for completing marriage. If your goal is simply to live together or bring the spouse along, arrange those functions first and customize appearance when you want to.
Breaking up is possible, but it carries a cost. Read the action and its consequences before confirming it. Ending a relationship is different from simply choosing another playable character for an unrelated quest, so do not use the breakup option as a casual test of the interface.
Designate a residence for your spouse
The expansion adds 17 residences constructed through dispatch missions. After building and designating a residence, your spouse can live there. Use the map's ownership information to keep track of the relevant playable character's property.
A residence serves a different purpose from an individual furnishing. Learning a chair blueprint does not designate a home, and placing furniture does not by itself direct a spouse to live there. Follow the residence construction and designation steps when your goal is a shared home.
Free Construction is another housing system, unlocked through the Howling Hill camp and Luke's Request. It allows structural customization, but you should not treat its availability as the relationship's proposal meter. Build and arrange the property you want while continuing to track marriage through the NPC's relationship interface.
Use festivals for broader relationships
Camp festivals invite sufficiently trusted NPCs for a limited time and allow relationships to develop more quickly through interaction. If you have unlocked the festival mission, use the visiting period to speak with the residents you want to know better.
Do not assume that every festival interaction applies an identical bonus to the separate romantic meter. Check the relationship result you actually receive. Festivals support the wider Trust system, while romance still has its own additional level, daily interactions and individual conditions.
Some visitors can also become Honorary Greymanes who participate in dispatch missions. That is a separate benefit of trusted relationships. You do not need to marry every useful visitor, and recruiting a visitor does not substitute for completing the romance path with your chosen NPC.
When progress stops, return to the specific layer involved: eligibility, ordinary Trust, additional romantic Trust, a daily cooldown or a special quest. Keeping those checks separate lets you continue the relationship without spending more gifts on a condition that gifts cannot resolve.
